When your oven stops heating up, it can quickly derail dinner plans. Whether it won’t turn on at all or just isn’t getting hot enough, this issue usually points to a problem with one or more internal components. Here are the most common causes:
1. Faulty Igniter (Gas Oven)
If you have a gas oven and it’s not heating, the igniter is likely to blame. It’s responsible for
lighting the gas. If it’s weak or damaged, your oven won’t heat properly.
2. Broken Bake Element (Electric Oven)
In electric ovens, the bake element is the heating coil at the bottom. If it’s not glowing red when turned on, it might be burnt out and needs replacing.
3. Malfunctioning Thermostat or Temperature Sensor
Your oven depends on its thermostat or sensor to regulate temperature. If either one is off, your oven may underheat, overheat, or stop heating entirely.
4. Tripped Circuit Breaker or Blown Fuse
If your oven has no power at all, check the breaker box first. A tripped breaker or blown fuse
might be cutting off electricity to the unit.
5. Control Board Problems

The electronic control board manages many oven functions. If it fails, you might not get any heat despite everything else working.
What You Can Do:
Check power or gas supply
Try resetting your oven
Test or visually inspect the igniter or heating element
